the taller one builds a building
the more likely it will fall
so, too, one shouldn't
follow a metaphysical system
so large it will fail
we should stay mainly with the foundations
of wisdom
that of proper conduct
guided by good reason and common sense

just as an athlete's skill doesn't come without training,
so, too, a person wanting to seek truth and magnanimity
must train
and follow a prescribed path of improvement
they must understand that they know little
become in wonderment of life
purify and change their past habits
by observing the harmony of the earth
look to the positive side
the gentle, the compassionate side
drawing general principals from observations of nature
following their rules of thought
that it's best to be wise, kind, generous and peaceful
by improving step by step
one reinforces their behavior
while good habits are formed
pruifying and changing old habits
and letting them go
replacing them with good ones
eventually one'll do well without trying
it will become part of their character and daily conduct
flowing slowly and gently with flexibility and patience
fulfilling oneself
by working and sharing with others |
